Dear Jim: Mike and I are so sorry to hear about your Mom. I wish we could be with you for her Memorial Service, but unfortunately Mike is away on travel. We have made a contribution to Interval House in her memory. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Memorial Service

It’s been 10 years or more since I last saw “Mrs. Meacham,” as she was known to me in the formative years of my dim and distant past, so I’m afraid I’ll have to fade out and cue the organ music for my throwback recollection. As the mother of my oldest and best friend, James (née “Jim”), she naturally made a lasting impression. In my rather staid, Leave-It-To-Beaver-world of 1970’s Colchester, she was a bit of the anti-June-Cleaver and often a nemesis of my father (let’s call him “Ward”), a long-time representative of the Public Utility. Despite what some might perceive as these drawbacks, I shall nevertheless remember her as a sweet lady – and as I can see from the comments of her more recent friends and acquaintances, this characteristic permeated all her future incarnations. Our heartfelt condolences to James and Family. – David “Slausz” and Kim Majkowski
